aging trunk

aging trunk bends low
strong lateral supports fruit

No, you’re not seeing double.
I just couldn’t help myself.
The old bonsai tree has life in it yet.
Hats off to patient gardeners and ancient wisdom
that bring us such beauty.

I love haiku, the ability to transcend the literal world in a few syllables. This one speaks to the idea that life is not so much a vertical gesture lifting each generation, but a lateral journey that holds a branch out to the following fruit.
