Evensong came earlier today

Evensong came earlier today
Accompanied by sweet robins
Singing the sun to rest
Mature green-leaved trees give early signs of fall
Clusters of seed pods glow yellow-green
In late afternoon sun
Small birds flit around picking off juicy insects
Cicadas tune up their vibrating wings
Children’s voices echo in the distance
Who will sing me to rest?
How quickly will my sun set?
What and whom will I leave behind?
