One more ring

Longwood Gardens Woods - November 2014

20 November 2015

 One more ring around
The core of who I am
And will become

At a loss
I stand mute
Inhale this world

Never will I live
Long enough to exhaust
The beauty of each day
In this short life

Do I look old?
I feel a newborn baby
Inside peering out
On the world spread
Like a table before me

Do I want a gift?
A token of respect for
Living yet another year?

I’m just an ordinary woman
With simple tastes and
Complex emotions

My wish is
To see, smell and taste
Joy in this season of
Autumn’s falling leaves
Pirouetting gracefully
To the waiting earth below
