The Real Thing
by Elouise
My magic wand wish for today:
That I could change protest into pro-test.
Would that not solve most of the world’s ills?
Expose misbegotten promises that bode no good?
For a small example, take this morning:
My cheery alarm clock starts beeping on time
My body, mind and spirit aren’t ready to be on time
Yet my cheery alarm just gets louder and louder
I am forced to turn it off and turn over
Don’t assume I want to get up.
Don’t assume what you promise is what I need.
Don’t assume what you promise is what I will get.
I just want to know
Are you and your promises The Real Thing?

Response to WordPress Daily Prompt: Protest
Darling Elouise! What, indeed, is the real thing? More and more, I don’t know and am unsure about what I do. Perhaps this is a sign that I need to do nothing, for a while.
Thanks for the invitation to reflect. Much appreciated. xx 😀

You’re welcome, Fran. Your question is right on target! At one level, we’ll never know in this life (for sure, 100% guaranteed). And yet, over time (unfortunately rather late), I’ve developed (the hard way) a few more filters than I used to have. Which is probably a Very Good Thing. Not only in my personal relationships, but especially in our crazy upside-down political scenario (that didn’t arrive overnight). I would also say that doing nothing for a while is a marvelous interim solution. 🙂

I say take a hammer to the cheerful alarm clock….hubby is my personal alarm and wakes me at 6 am, if I lallygag around too long, he shuts the door thinking I fell back to sleep, usually I’m just cuddling with the pups, the best way to start the day I say. I know, you need a puppy Elouise, keep you and Lucy busy with cuddles ❤

🙂 Actually, we have a somewhat cuddly cat that doesn’t quite understand morning is lazy time! Thankfully, D gets it. He just leaves me there to sleep if I don’t get up. Unfortunately, getting on a regular schedule is part of my health agenda these days. Of course getting enough sleep is also on the agenda….zzzzzzzz…….

I’m lucky if I make it to 9 each night and up at 6 am to shake the mind awake before dog walking time….one day perhaps he shall let me sleep like the Queen I am? Ha ha….probably not. My cat doesn’t cuddle, she’s a terror. ❤
