I just want to know….

Is this part of a plot?
Or is it an impromptu interlude
Patched together
From bits and pieces
Intended to look and sound
Like the real thing.
How long can this farce endure
Before it becomes sick reality
Gorging its maw with
Shreds of a dying dream?
Is it too late to go back
To the beginning
When fun was funny
And leaders knew when
To keep their mouths shut
And their hands to themselves?

Response to WordPress Prompt: Farce
Well the current leader “of the free world” doesn’t know when to shut his beak, more like a beak than a mouth. A parrot comes to mind!

Interesting analogy indeed. And now he’s going to represent us overseas…. I do wonder how much more our collective life, disparate as it is, can take.

I’m feeling very sorry for the Queen, she doesn’t have any say as to who she entertains and that sycophantic PM of Great Britain has invited said incumbent to dine with her. I hope his table manners are better than his usual manners. How that poor good woman will be able to great him as a gentleman is beyond me. There’s not an actress in the world who will equal the performance that she will have to, and succeed in putting on.

Hmmmmmm, makes me thoughtful, in all the circs. (And there have been a lot of them, lately!) Your poems have a lovely wistful quality to them. 🙂
