Off-balance
by Elouise
Turned tables
Throw me off-balance
Disrupt my rhythm
Stumbling along
Through gray haze
The sun strains to shine
Overcast Winter
Sifts through misty air
Chilled to the bone
Searching for rhyme
If not reason
What would we do
Without daily routines
Holding us together
Like friendly glue
Warm to the touch
Made sweet with
Familiar music
And the sound of our cat
Purring across our laps

What a wonderful series of lines, Elouise!
I’ll be carrying them with me, to encourage me if ever those “everyday dailies” seem less than a gift of cohesion…
Thank you for this helpfully “sticky” thought!

You’re welcome, Debbie. Sometimes the glue can get a little stinky….😊

Yes, Elouise, I do like the sound of a cat purring on my lap while I sit and watch TV.

I don’t have a cat purring
I have a dog snoring 🙂

Aww…That’s too bad, Brian. Smudge sends condolences, though I’m sure your Coco’s snoring is as beautiful to you as Smudge’s purrs are to me. 🙂
