dawn

a mirage shimmers
beckoning from eastern skies
through misty shadows
clouds of soft fleeting colors
float on water’s silent breath
Thanks to Tarryl Gabel for this evocative painting. It captures how I’m feeling today, even though rain is pouring down outside, and wind gusts are rolling in.
I’ve been feeling disoriented for several weeks. Also relatively helpless since I got the call on Christmas day about my youngest sister’s health emergency. I’ve already written about some of my internal struggles.
Today I’m moving on–doing what I can to stay connected with my sister in healthy ways, without leaving myself behind. Especially when it comes to writing and taking care of my own daily needs.
The painting above caught my eye this morning. It’s a lovely capture on canvas of how I’m feeling right now–enticed by possibilities for my life today and in the future, whatever is left for me.
Thanks for visiting!

I was encouraged to read that your sister is improving, and pray for more, yet to come…I have my own youngest sister, who lives with significant health issues. My love and concern for her sometimes mean that sleep (i.e. night-time peace) is hard to find. I pray and I hope, reminded again and again that God loves her even more than I do, is caring for her, and is bringing into her orbit people and things she needs. I may or may not know about them, but I try to trust the Lord to show himself strong and merciful to her…With thanks and much love, dear Elouise

Thank you, dear Debbie. I’ve thought about you and your youngest sister several times in the last month. Yes, sleep becomes a challenge, along with how I spend my waking hours. I appreciate your line about God bringing people into your sister’s orbit who can help her. It’s already amazingly true for Sister #4, and is one of the things I’m having to count on these days. Neither of us can afford to go back to what we experienced as a not so happy relationship–back when father was in charge, mother was exhausted, and I was called upon to play surrogate mother from time to time. Never again.

Beautiful painting and poem!
Continued prayers for your sister.
Yes, even if we live close to loved ones, we must always pray that God will bring others into their lives to help them, too. Often they will respond to the other people in ways they don’t/won’t respond to family…or it just helps for them to know that others care and it’s not just their family that cares. 🙂

Thank you, Carolyn! Yes, it’s so true–there are indeed others who have been caring for my sister. I’m so grateful for each of them, especially those who will be with her for the long haul. 🙂
