Shocked breathless voices,
Familiar cadences of
Can-you-believe-this-News
Deliver slices of today’s
Tragedy, deceit and despair.

Earnest competing voices
Now lost in their world
Rehearse, revisit, rehash
Outlooks and likelihoods
Of better days ahead, or not.

What I really want to know is
Where I am today,
Wandering in my bodily world
With its traces of yesteryears,
Better days behind me or not.
