My Secret Garden Annex
by Elouise
I know. It’s about 45 minutes away from home. But it’s still my secret garden annex. A place of refuge and natural beauty any time of the year, plus occasional romantic walks in the woods.
Not to mention hot and sweaty hikes, masses of blooming flowers, waterfalls, fountains, ponds, a bell-chime tower, an eye of water, the old farmhouse, indoor organ concerts, stunning conservatory with to-die-for private and family lavatories, and best of all–a café for rest, recuperation, simple food, and a view of other mellow visitors.
No, I’m not paid to advertise Longwood Gardens. I just love it. Today we’re off with our daughter and our son-in-law for another hike in the meadow and whatever else they want to see.
Here’s a photo from a few years ago. My daughter and I are making our way across the top of the meadow. Do you recognize our sun umbrellas floating along? In case you’re wondering, that’s Daughter on the right.
If all goes well, I’ll have more photos to post from today’s adventure. Not that I’m in danger of running out.
Friday Cheers!

Hope you had a wonderful time! What I want to know is how you get there in 45 minutes… takes me an hour!

Well, today it took about an hour getting there–construction zone slowdown. Ugh. But we sailed home. Blue Route to Rt 1 and straight out to Longwood. We got home a little while ago. Fabulous day!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it. What I can’t quite fathom is that we are also God’s stunning creation.
Happy Monday!
