The Daily Scene from My Desk | Marriage

by Elouise

It’s 3:45pm. I’m at my computer in my office. D is at his computer in his office. Adjacent offices. I’ll let you decide who’s who.

Approximator to Exactifier:

  • Hey Babe, can you please tell me about how many old slides you’ve digitized so far? I don’t need the exact number.

Exactifier to Approximator:

  • No problem. Just a bit….

……………….(a bit later)

Approximator to Exactifier:

  • Uh…I just want an estimate! I don’t need an exact number.

Exactifier to Approximator:

  • Can you be quiet for just one minute?! I’m working on it right now!

…………………………………………….(exactly 1 minute later)

Exactifier to Approximator:

  • Exactly 1,430.

Approximator to Exactifier:

  • Thanks, Babe!

Note #1 for the record:
This is not an unusual occurrence. It is recorded here merely in an attempt to demonstrate The Daily Push and Pull between an INFJ and her beloved ISTJ spouse.

Actually, we’ve come a long way, Baby!  Ten years ago we would have been fomenting or is it foaming at the mouth by now. Unhappy and disillusioned—not because we don’t love each other, but because we just don’t seem to get some things as quickly as we get other things.

Note #2 for the record:
Both parties signed off on this account. And they’re still smiling. He because he got his uninterrupted silence; she because she got her number.
