heart races
breath shallow
torpor floods
my body
one behind
the other
heavy legs
drag feet
no need to write
nothing to say

lie down
sleep on it
burdened minds
need rest

fear waits
in the wings
if words
seek light
will fury fall
from starless
moonless sky
or might
some beacon
pierce my heart
plotting a way
back home
