There’s a chill in the air
by Elouise

There’s a chill in the air
this morning.
I warm my old skin
with soft flannel
and walk through my museum
of relics.
Nothing rhymes today.
Reason flew south months ago
leaving only my heart
and you.

What? Has summer ended there already? Autumn/Fall is not due for another 3 weeks surely.
Love that painting, wasn’t sure at first whether or not it was a photograph or a painting. Pity you spoilt it by telling 😦 😀
Don’t Americans use the word spoilt?
The word checker’s telling me, an Englishman I’m wrong! egad and odds bodkins! I’ll wager they say spoiled. Just like they don’t say dived they say dove. And here I am thinking dove was a bird 😈 🐱 👿 🐻
Good morning Elouise 😀

Good evening? to you, Brian! Though I’m a bit late getting going on comments, and you’re probably sound asleep already.
As for autumn, I’m stunned to see fall colors already appearing on the trees. We’ve also had several days of unusually chilly days and nights. It might zoom back up, but I’m actually enjoying it! School just began this week as well–a sure sign fall is in the air.
An Englishman wrong? I promise not to tell…and yes, the dove dove just yesterday! 🙂
So glad you enjoyed that painting. And sorry (almost) I spoiled it by telling! 🙂
