slow cold drizzle
hangs in late winter air
song sparrows sing spring
I’m just back from a morning errand. Chilled to the bone, umbrella in hand, winter hat and gloves in place along with multiple layers of warmth. As I walked down our driveway, I heard and then saw a resident song sparrow getting a jump on competitors that might want his staked-out territory! Here’s to an early spring–which we seemed to have for two glorious days this week before another cold front came through yesterday.
Enjoy the birdsong, if not the weather, wherever you are. (There are two song sparrows on the short video.)

Think I’d prefer the fog, well a mist at any rate. 🙂

They sound very much like what we refer to as house sparrows. And I love them.

What we call house sparrows aren’t nearly as lovable as these song sparrows (smaller, with beautiful songs and feathers). They’re way outnumbered by slightly larger house sparrows that swarm back yards and parking lots. I wish I could do some bird-watching in Australia! D got some nice photos while he was there last year.

The drizzle continues in Williamsport also causing deep chill as one tries to gather fallen
decaying leaves smothering new growth popping up underneath them. I try to rake gently not to abort the beauty to come soon

I can see and feel it! And identify with the agony of trying to save the new sprigs just now beginning to poke up. We have some tiny tips of crocus as of the middle of the week. But nothing yet this weekend to encourage them! 😦

we are getting a new crop of birds in lately, most likely migrating to or from somewhere, yet I never see robins down here, although I hear they do come down. The squirrels are going crazy as the oaks are losing their leaves, lots of predator birds so perhaps no places to hide in the leaves? Keeps the pups busy running to and fro. Peace and love and wishing for warmer weather to cheer you my friend ❤
