Gifts of old age
by Elouise
Gifts of old age
Come slowly sifting
Decades of memories
Through a heart
Converted to truth
Soft and pliable
It weighs the years
Discarding self-contempt
For self-acceptance
And understanding
Of what and why
And wherefore these
Shadows are nothing
In the end but
The reverse side of
Life interrupted and
Redeemed at great cost

I am learning this. Slowly. But this is coming to me. Beautifully expressed. I have got behind in communicating with the WordPress community, but It is good to see you are here. Comforting. I have not written anything purely creative in some time. Almost forever. Certainly not yet in this, my seventh lifetime.

Hi, Pamela. It’s so good to hear from you! I love your red rose. 🙂 Thanks for your comment. Perhaps you’ll wake up with a creative bug one of these days. In the meantime, cheers for this new year and all the comfort we can get. There’s a dearth of it these days, I fear.

Where have you been hiding Pamela? I’ve been worried but didn’t write you as you may think I’m nagging you.

Gifts of old age? Think the postman forgot where I live mine haven’t arrived yet 🙂
Then again I did get my grand daughters.

Yes indeed! Grand-daughters are a wondrous gift. Especially when they’re close enough to have them around when they’re young and believe you’re the greatest grandpa/grandma on earth! 🙂

That unfortunately is not true, the last bit, I have 3 grand children in their 20’s who I’ve never met, their mother, my eldest daughter from my first marriage, and I have been estranged 30 years or more. They all live on the other side of this continent.
I assure you that the fault is mine entirely.
I will not be making posts/blogs on this
