An evening prayer
by Elouise
Today I got a little lost
Until You found me
In the hymns I played
At the end of the day
I’m weary and it’s late
Last night I had a hard time
Getting to sleep which
Made this entire day feel
Off-balance –
already behind and unable
to catch up with myself
This night – sing me to sleep
And wake me with joy
Alive and ready for another
Day – found and grateful
From my journal yesterday evening.

I love that, Elouise–“Sing me to sleep/And wake me with joy/… found and grateful.” May God truly rejoice over you with singing, that you may awaken with joy. Reminded of the line “Be it on Your own beloved arm,
O God of grace, that I in peace shall awake” from the Ita Compline. Happy snow day!

Thank you for the comment and the link. I’ll check it out. Also, a happy cold day to you, too! No snow here, for which I’m grateful. Just freezing cold and some ice.

On this frigid day, I just read these lovely words, Elouise. What a warm gift they were, because of you, my warm friend!
