Knackered Friday?
by Elouise
One of my all-time favorite posts! I know it isn’t Friday, but it’s coming!!!
Are you knackered? This great word comes from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia and beyond. Here are several visual definitions included for the benefit of all who are too knackered to read on.
First, a photo of Smudge (above), taken several days after he was rescued dripping wet, voracious and exhausted, by our granddaughters and their mother. Knackered. As in all tuckered out.
Here are four other helpful overviews, thanks to Google,
beginning with my personal favorite:
And three more, in case you need further insight:
Me either!
Here’s to an unknackered weekend!
With sincere apologies to my many friends
who know far more and better
than I do about knackered.
Dare I ask: Are you knackered? Feel free to share your experiences!
Or not.

Oh my…you’re welcome, and it’s still Friday over here!

I’ve awakened from a ten hour sleep, got my coffee, and settled to the morning emails, to find this delightful post from you. I’m not knackered now, but I must have been to sleep so long.

I know the feeling, Gwen! By the way, I’m enjoying your book…and love the title (I Belong to No One). I’m amazed at the heavy stories women carry in their bodies and souls. Too often versions of similar story lines.

I am thrilled to hear you are reading my book. The title comes from one particular line, but after publication I realised it is actually the theme running throughout. And yes, it is an “everywoman’s” story.

So far it’s a great read!

Love this, Elouise!
I definitely feel knackered sometimes, usually when I return from the Parkway. Adrenaline/the Holy Spirit keeps me going prior to going and while there. When I get home, however, I vegetate on the couch and eat leftovers for dinner. I’m sure a picture of me dozing off would be very unflattering!
Miss you! Reading your blog makes me feel connected.

Oh yes…better to have a positive reason for feeling knackered, than just staying up too late watching a movie! All things considered, I promise not to take or publish a picture of my knackered friend on her couch, sound asleep and maybe even snoring? 🙂 I miss seeing you, too. Thanks for taking time to read my posts. I’m feeling weary of life some days–not the good parts, but the things I ‘must do’ in order to maintain a semblance of sanity.

I think that once you get to 75 you have an excuse.

I think you’re right, John. I’m now on the verge of 78, past time to throw all caution to the winds!

Sweet photos! We’ve all felt this way from time to time. 😀
Maybe we all have an unknackered whee-kend and the knackeredness will flee! 😉 😛
Love and PATS and RUBS to Smudge!

Hear, hear! An “unknackered whee-kend” sounds glorious! 🙂 Smudge send his purry thanks for all that wonderful attention you sent his way. Tonight I’m definitely feeling knackered–I made the mistake of offering to get groceries this weekend. Way too many people in the store; way too many empty and near empty shelves (it’s the weekend!); plus a grocery bag stuffer who didn’t seem to understand how to balance weights. I had to rearrange everything before I could lift the bags into the back end of our car! Yuck! On the brighter side, it’s done! 🙂
