Shades of memories revisited
by Elouise
What will become of today
After the sun sets
And the moon moves on
To other nights
In other places
Will anyone remember
Or care what happened
Just now
When I laid eyes on you
And you on me
Shades of memories echo
From your eyes and face
Just beyond reach
Whispers calling to me
In the dark of dawn
A small poem for a large presence in my life. I’ll never forget the first day D’s eyes smiled at me. Just the way they do today. It was 1961. I was a sophomore in college; he was a junior. The quiet type, except for that sparkle in his eyes. I’d never had a man, or boy for that matter, smile at me with his eyes the way D did. To say I went all weak inside would be an understatement. Now, 58 years later, he still has the gift.
Happy Wednesday!

Aw, so sweet, so beautiful…this makes me so happy! It brought joy-tears to my eyes…and brings the smiles! I’m so glad you have each other. 🙂 ❤️
My hubby and I met when I was 17…we became good friends first, then we started dating about 9 months after I turned 18. We are still together today. Eons later. 😉 I still get excited when I hear his car drive in the driveway, I still love his contagious laugh, I still love his smile, I still love that we can talk about anything and everything, I still love the silly little notes he leaves for me in interesting places, and the texts he sends me in this modern-age ( 😉 😀 ) and so so so SO many other things! 🙂
(((HUGS))) 🙂 ❤️

Oh Carolyn, Your comment made me teary. What a gift you are to each other. Especially now. I was 16 when I first met D. It took a year for us to get up enough nerve to actually pay attention to each other! I never looked back. I can’t imagine life without him, except that there would be a huge, unfillable hole in my heart. I love your list of eons-later realities! 🙂 Thanks so much. Elouise
