Listening to My Body
by Elouise
I laughed as I wrote the dialogue between my body and me. We’ve been having this conversation for a while. It has, however, escalated in the last month while I’ve been recovering from a respiratory virus.
It started Monday before Christmas. That means my body and I have had multiple opportunities to get to know each other better. I couldn’t go out partying, didn’t travel, didn’t go anywhere on Christmas Day, didn’t go to church, didn’t do much of anything. Sort of.
I was glad to be a blogger. I could do that while I was recuperating! No problem. Sitting at my desk doesn’t take a lot of energy. OK. So I had a hard time staying awake sometimes. And the cough was keeping me awake at night from time to time. No big deal. I could sleep all I wanted day or night, and then some!
Well, here I am still negotiating reality with my body. It has clarified in excruciating ways how unwise it is for me to ignore its need for sleep. That would include sleep at night, after breakfast, before lunch, after lunch, and anytime I just want to put my head down and snooze a bit.
Given these circumstances, I’ve decided to stick with easy-to-write posts for right now, along with my daily haikus. And, of course, responding to your comments, likes and follows if I’m awake.

Thanks, Andy. Sleep is the best medicine! I’m going for as much of it as I can get right now.

I came down with a respiratory virus the Tuesday before Christmas. Didn’t know it could be spread via a blog. Leta came down with the flu the day before Christmas. What a lousy way to spend Christmas. We waited until after New Years to celebrate Christmas with our grand-kids. We are much better now and hope you are too.

Oh, Waldo! I didn’t know it could spread via a blog, either. I’m laughing, but it really isn’t a laughing matter, is it? I’m so glad you and Leta are much better now. I’m actually on the upside of this; it’s just taking longer than I want it to! Thanks for your comment.

Dear Elouise, belatedly, I read this blog. Is that picture at the top of Crater Lake? Aunt Leta

Yes indeed; it’s spectacular Crater Lake. I’m out in front of the Lodge (where we had just eaten lunch). I can’t think of a better place to sit, take in the beauty, and do nothing at all!
