What the doctor ordered!

Conservatory at Longwood Gardens
Exactly what the doctor ordered! Fragrance, green-green-green, brilliant flowering shrubs and flowers, the sound of water dripping, running along the stream and falling over small falls. Orchid Extravaganza. Organ music in the ballroom. Lunch in the café. And more photos–see below.
That’s what we did yesterday morning and afternoon. No walking in the meadow–too cold and damp! Just right in the conservatory. Here’s a look down the center toward the entrance.
A peek into the Children’s Garden:
Outside was a fright.
The main fountain display area is being totally renovated.
Not ready for two more years.
First a nice before.
The rows of seats are for watching water shows.
They’re staged inside the grassy area and
from a giant production platform behind the glowing fall leaves.
Moving right along, one more lovely photo.
It’s part of the Conservatory Orchid Meadow created
especially for the Extravaganza.
Have a happy afternoon!

It was yesterday–not so many crowds, thankfully.

It’s one of my favorites–a bit of a drive, but worth it when it isn’t crowded. The sound of water is so soothing…
