Upon waking this morning

Last night the planets, moons and stars
sent calm ethereal beams
into each chamber of my heart
asleep within my bed

The pieces joined together there
as in a lullaby
sweet music set to rhythms slow
enfolding me with light

Quietly they slipped their balm
into my broken heart
then tiptoed softly off to rest
within dawn’s waking gleam
