before the sun goes down
by Elouise
unexpected tears sting my eyes
as I walk through the churchyard
my spirit inhales the bittersweet taste of home
beneath this sanctuary of towering trees
standing watch over silent gravestones
parents hurry past me
toward the grade school open house
across the street
oblivious to the invitation to stop
and rest a while before the sun goes down
yesterday evening, on my way home

I find I have more peace and calm when I can’t avoid the obvious. Not everyone is wired that way, which may be a good thing. I still haven’t shaken the shock of our recent and various ‘natural’ disasters. So much change and loss….from which much good can come….at a price. Glad for the weekend. ππ»ππ

Isn’t the sun wonderful when it sets and when it rises and also when we realise that my sun down here in OZ is the same sun that you have.

Yes John, it is one of the great wonders of this world! π Almost like its own private joke with all of us. It’s beaming bright here this morning. π

That’s a lovely picture of a red sky at night, tells of a coming nice day. I love the sunset but I much prefer the sunrise. Proves I’m alive for another day at least π
