autumn’s chill air
by Elouise

autumn’s chill air seeps
through pores in sweaters and skin
night falls swiftly
shaggy gray squirrels race
to inspect and relocate
winter’s cold rations
a mob of starlings
rises together babbling
and whistling cat calls
from the softball field
the sound of balls pinging bats
soars through damp fall air
I pick up my speed
as twilight quickly descends
toward tomorrow’s dawn

Beautiful poem! I love autumn! So far it’s been very enjoyable…great weather, wonderful smells, delicious foods, vibrant colors, etc! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂

Thank you, Carolyn! I think it’s the most beautiful and sad (in a friendly sort of way) time of year. I get very nostalgic. In addition to this, I don’t like winter’s cold blast, even though it’s sometimes gorgeous to behold. This probably has something to do with my love for autumn. 🙂 Hoping you enjoy your extra hour of sleep Saturday night! 🙂
